The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) was established in 1951 as a special district under the Metropolitan Water District Act of 1911. The District’s service area covers approximately 600 square miles with a population of 2.6 million residents. MWDOC’s service area includes 14 cities and 13 special districts, Orange County unincorporated areas, and one private water retailer. The District’s key services include wholesale water supplier and resource planning efforts for water supply development, water use efficiency, water education and emergency preparedness.
